Set up your Mühür Mail mailbox in Thunderbird
Your mailbox connects to Thunderbird over IMAP and SMTP. Messages, folders and read status stay in sync with webmail.
Mozilla Thunderbird runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.
Automatic setup
If your domain has an autoconfig record, Thunderbird finds the settings on its own: you just enter your name, email address and password.
Server settings
Enter these if the app can't find the settings on its own.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 993
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 465
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
If 465 is blocked, use 587 with STARTTLS
Outgoing mail also needs authentication, with the same username and password.
Settings for your own address are in webmail under Settings > Devices and connection. If the server name there differs from the one here, use that one.
Manual setup
- In Thunderbird, choose to add a new email account (Account Settings > Account Actions > Add Mail Account).
- Enter your name, email address and password or app password, and press Continue.
- When Thunderbird finds the settings, check that IMAP is selected and press Done.
- If it doesn't, choose manual configuration: incoming IMAP
mail.muhurmail.com, 993, SSL/TLS; outgoing SMTPmail.muhurmail.com, 465, SSL/TLS; authentication Normal password; username your full email address.
When do you need an app password?
If your organization requires two-step verification, or your mailbox requires app passwords, your mailbox password won't work in email apps. Create a separate password for each app in webmail under Settings > App passwords and enter it in the password field. If you lose a device, you revoke only its password.
If something goes wrong
- If Thunderbird suggests a wrong server, switch to manual configuration and enter the values above.
- If sending is rejected, check that the outgoing server's username is your full email address.
Let Mühür Mail prepare your records
Add your domain; the records you need are ready in the dashboard, and Mühür Mail checks them as you add them.
