Set up your Mühür Mail mailbox in Outlook
Your mailbox connects to Outlook over IMAP and SMTP. Messages, folders and read status stay in sync with webmail.
Outlook for Windows and Mac: the new Outlook, classic Outlook and the versions that come with Microsoft 365. It connects to Mühür Mail over IMAP and SMTP.
Automatic setup
If your domain has an autodiscover record, classic Outlook finds the server settings from your email address. If it doesn't, or if you use the new Outlook, you enter the settings by hand.
Server settings
Enter these if the app can't find the settings on its own.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 993
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 465
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
If 465 is blocked, use 587 with STARTTLS
Outgoing mail also needs authentication, with the same username and password.
Settings for your own address are in webmail under Settings > Devices and connection. If the server name there differs from the one here, use that one.
Manual setup
- Choose to add an account in Outlook (File > Add Account in classic Outlook).
- Enter your email address; if offered, choose to set up the account manually and pick IMAP as the account type.
- Incoming mail: server
mail.muhurmail.com, port 993, encryption SSL/TLS. - Outgoing mail: server
mail.muhurmail.com, port 465, encryption SSL/TLS. If 465 is blocked, use 587 with STARTTLS. - Enter your full email address as the username and your mailbox password or app password, then connect.
When do you need an app password?
If your organization requires two-step verification, or your mailbox requires app passwords, your mailbox password won't work in email apps. Create a separate password for each app in webmail under Settings > App passwords and enter it in the password field. If you lose a device, you revoke only its password.
If something goes wrong
- If Outlook tries to add the account as Exchange or Microsoft 365, choose IMAP; Mühür Mail doesn't offer Exchange connections.
- The outgoing server requires authentication. In classic Outlook, turn on authentication in the outgoing server settings and use the same details as the incoming mail server.
Let Mühür Mail prepare your records
Add your domain; the records you need are ready in the dashboard, and Mühür Mail checks them as you add them.
