Set up your Mühür Mail mailbox in Apple Mail
Your mailbox connects to Apple Mail over IMAP and SMTP. Messages, folders and read status stay in sync with webmail.
The Mail app on your Mac. There is a separate guide for iPhone and iPad.
Automatic setup
The easiest way is a configuration profile. In webmail, download the Apple profile under Settings > Devices and connection and open it, then install the downloaded profile in System Settings (depending on your macOS version it appears under General > Device Management or Privacy & Security > Profiles). The profile contains no password; you are asked for it during setup.
Server settings
Enter these if the app can't find the settings on its own.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 993
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 465
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
If 465 is blocked, use 587 with STARTTLS
Outgoing mail also needs authentication, with the same username and password.
Settings for your own address are in webmail under Settings > Devices and connection. If the server name there differs from the one here, use that one.
Manual setup
- Open Mail and choose Mail > Add Account from the menu.
- Choose Other Mail Account and press Continue.
- Enter your name, email address and password or app password, then press Sign In.
- If the settings aren't found, choose IMAP as the account type; enter
mail.muhurmail.comas the incoming and outgoing mail server and your full email address as the username. - Press Sign In and choose the apps to use with the account.
When do you need an app password?
If your organization requires two-step verification, or your mailbox requires app passwords, your mailbox password won't work in email apps. Create a separate password for each app in webmail under Settings > App passwords and enter it in the password field. If you lose a device, you revoke only its password.
If something goes wrong
- Ports are usually chosen automatically. If sending fails, turn off automatic connection settings under Mail > Settings > Accounts > Server Settings; enter 993 for incoming and 465 for outgoing and turn on TLS/SSL.
- If you keep being asked for your password, your organization may require an app password; see the note below.
Let Mühür Mail prepare your records
