Set up your Mühür Mail mailbox in Android
Your mailbox connects to Android over IMAP and SMTP. Messages, folders and read status stay in sync with webmail.
The Gmail or Outlook app on Android phones and tablets. The steps are similar in the device maker's own email app.
Automatic setup
Some apps find the server settings on their own. If yours doesn't, you enter the details below by hand.
Server settings
Enter these if the app can't find the settings on its own.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 993
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
- Server
- mail.muhurmail.com
- Port
- 465
- Security
- SSL/TLS
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- Your mailbox password or an app password
If 465 is blocked, use 587 with STARTTLS
Outgoing mail also needs authentication, with the same username and password.
Settings for your own address are in webmail under Settings > Devices and connection. If the server name there differs from the one here, use that one.
Manual setup
- In the Gmail app, tap your profile picture and choose Add another account.
- Choose Other, enter your email address and tap Manual setup.
- Choose Personal (IMAP) as the account type and enter your password or app password.
- In the incoming server settings, enter
mail.muhurmail.comas the server, 993 as the port and SSL/TLS as the security type. - In the outgoing server settings, enter
mail.muhurmail.comas the server, 465 as the port and SSL/TLS as the security type; keep sign-in required.
When do you need an app password?
If your organization requires two-step verification, or your mailbox requires app passwords, your mailbox password won't work in email apps. Create a separate password for each app in webmail under Settings > App passwords and enter it in the password field. If you lose a device, you revoke only its password.
If something goes wrong
- Enter your full email address in the username field, not just the part before the @.
- Don't leave the security type on None, so your password isn't sent unencrypted.
- In the Outlook app, choose IMAP when adding the account and enter the same server details.
